Even if the first historical documents go back to X the century, from archaeological discovers of ancient tombs the origin of the town can be backdated to the roman age.
The name of the Common find origin from the Ferentillo monks that in X the century founded the first inhabited nucleus dedicating to Saint Peter, from which the primitive denomination Monte San Pietro. Stopped the monastic activity, during the feudal period the country fell under the dominion of Fermo.
