Even if the first historical documents go back to X the century, from archaeological discovers of ancient tombs the origin of the town can be backdated to the roman age.

The name of the Common find origin from the Ferentillo monks that in X the century founded the first inhabited nucleus dedicating to Saint Peter, from which the primitive denomination Monte San Pietro. The long history of the country is documented from some works of art of important value, like the “membranaceo code” of XIV the century with the Statutes of the Community, conserved in the communal palace.

The buildings of architectonic interest of Monte San Pietrangeli, beyond to the rests of castle walls, are the theatre and the civic tower, incorporated in the theatre, whose base is of Romanesque origin.
