Montappone is situated in the high land of the Piceno and one visits it usually because someone has told them about this pretty agricultural town with its suggestive views and its production of something that you can find in London, New York’s Fifth Avenue or in Tokio: we are talking about the hat!

In fact Montappone is world famous for the creation of hats, from high fashion models to economical versions.

The weaving of straw here is an ancient tradition that has always allowed the local inhabitants to produce all types of handmade articles, such as fans, baskets and of course hats.

Evidence of the latter can be found in the original “Hat Museum” where alongside the old machinery and working tools you can admire all styles of hats and especially period ones.

The fortified walls, the imposing bell tower, the well pre4served remains, of the old town centre, will remind you of the medieval past of this hamlet.
