Marche Breaks

Marche and The Reality Shows

In the Marche region will set a reality show, a television format of the group Eyworks, set in Rosora, in the province of Ancona, which will be aired in prime time on national Danish TV Dr, from February 26 and for ten consecutive weeks.

The program will be led by Eva Ravnbol, a writer born in Denmark and living in Rome.

It was her own choice to set the transmission in the Marches town where four couples in Denmark, between September and October 2008, trained in the restoration of a farmhouse into a bed & breakfast, which will be managed to the winners of the show.

In October last year the Regional Tourism Council, Victorian Solazzo, had received the conducting of the program and a journalist specializing in tourism, food and wine of the largest Danish newspaper, arrived in Italy just to get to know closely our artistic excellence, cultural and gastronomic tourism.

The assessor had provided material and information dissemination on the territory to the journalist who has devoted an entire page to Rosora at Marche and its beauties.

With this reality show will be given great prominence to the area and its typical Marche: the protagonists have long studied the environmental, cultural and gastronomic region and then apply them to the project.

In Denmark, as the Department of Tourism of Marche, there's already a lot of interest in the event, and through the site www.italy.dk Danish tourists have already requested information and booking accommodation in the Marches.

“De Italiaanse Drooms” goes to Belgium.

The Italian Dream, the Belgium Reality show filmed this summer in Montelparo finally shown on VTM channel (www.vtm.be)

The formula is the same of the one located in Piticchio. Here how the channel introduce the show.

Monday, November 24 to 20.35 for the first time you can enjoy the Italian dream.

Six Flemish couples leave their family, friends and work behind to realise in an Italian village their long cherished dream Packed they drive to Montelparo  where they will transform a derelict house into a charming bed & breakfast. Francesca Vanthielen is their support and shelter during the entire happening.

Elke and Erwin from Kortrijk can not leave soon enough. They have even postponed their wedding datum to initiate the adventure. Elke is pregnant but this, is not a problem. Erwin sees already his unborn child grow up under the Italian sun.

During the long journey Rudi from  Genk dreams about the peace that he hopes to find in Italy. He and his wife Annie want to change the hectic life, where everything  concerns money, for a life at lower tempo. They don’t consider it as a problem to leave their tavern” the Mill” to their staff.

Jan and Eline, young persons of twenty from Gent, are since five years an inseparable duo.  To look together to guests abroad would be the most beautiful thing there is.

Ann and Eric from Genk have other concerns. First they should get in Italy. Eric has a gun with him. He is a professional clay pigeon shooter) and should therefore have further practice in Italy. Can he smuggle his rifle unseen through bordercontrol?

Ruben and William wonder how the other couples and the village will respond to them. They decide from the outset to make clear that they are brothers in law. But   will this be easely accepted?

Ann and Jos  also want to start a new life abroad. And therefore they pay a high price. For their dream, they have to leave their one year old daughter Maite at home.

Eventually, the couples arrive in italy, after many hours driving  and  with stiff legs . The local population is already present. They also are curious about their new neighbours. The residents of Montelparo will decide what couple may settle  definitively in their village. The Consiglio, a council of seven prominent villagers, will decide during a weekly  secret meeting which of the couples may stay

Our couples are still not aware of this and  join each to a typical Italian buffet so they can meet and get acquainted with each other. And then off they go to the house!. With a beautiful panoramic scenery as decorum the couples discover the house

that  they will transform into a cosy bed & breakfast during the coming weeks. Although they all are convinced of the scenery and potential of the house, they realize that they still will have to work hard for their dream.

Since the couples have to live in the house in the coming weeks, they start cleaning.Exhausted as they are in the evening, they go to bed and can dream of the beautiful Italian house of their dreams.

The Bed & Breakfast are always in a beautiful country landscape and in this case also to the center of a village and this explains also because “Piticchio”.

The participants are four couples of Dutch with in common the fact they want to live in the “Belpaese” and that they are weekly estimated from three professionals “Marchigiani”, that teach them some aspects of the living in Italy.

Every week the professionals gives a vote, an authentic school report, on the job carried out from every participant and after five weeks the couple that would have realized the lower score will be excluded from the game. After others five weeks another will be eliminated in the some way. Finally the winner between the two remaining couples, will adjudicate the property the production society has acquired in Piticchio and they have participate in the restructuration.

The ungrateful evaluation task up to the three marchigiani, who are:

Silvia Marchegiani, Italian teacher from San Paolo di Jesi, that evaluate the progresses in the learning in Italian (isn't she hot?);

Sergio Marinelli, architect from Jesi that has developed the restructure plan,  judges the hard works of the participants, and, in order to save the little budget of 100.000 euro for the entire restructure, is executing personally many of the jobs;

Ione Seta, professional chef from Saint Silvestro di Senigallia, gives the votes on the preparation of the Italian dishes. (http://deitaliaansedroom.kro.nl/)

Eyeworks format 'The Italian Dream' commissioned in Denmark

DR, one of the leading Danish broadcasters, has commissioned a 10 episodes series of the Eyeworks format The Italian Dream, to air spring 2009. The production by Eyeworks Denmark has started this week as four couples took off for Italy. After the successful launch in The Netherlands earlier this year, where it was the most successfully introduced new show this spring, The Italian Dream was also sold in Belgium to VTM. The format has been created and developed by Eyeworks International.

The Italian Dream originates from The Netherlands where its first season was a great success on Ned1 (KRO) managing an average audience of 1,3 million viewers and a market share over 20%. In Belgium, the show will air this fall on commercial broadcaster VTM.

Sander Emmering, Managing Director Eyeworks International: “We are very pleased that another in-house developed Eyeworks format is doing this well. It feels great that our own show will now change the lives of people in The Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. And based on the current talks with several broadcasters I am positive we will be able to add more territories to this list. This success also supports our strategy of investing as a group in our creative output, thereby enhancing our position as an all round producer and distributor.”

Dreams do come true in The Italian Dream! At least for one out of the four couples competing for their own Bed & Breakfast business in the glorious Italian countryside. The Italian Dream combines life changing reality with competition and offers a revealing insight into clashing cultures.

Format Focus: The Italian Dream – by Will Hurrell - www.broadcastnow.co.uk

Couples have the chance to win their own bed and breakfast business in Italy in a series from the Netherlands.

The format

The Italian Dream is a property makeover series featuring four couples competing to win a B&B in the idyllic Italian countryside.

The couples must work together to rebuild a derelict property in a small village and are judged by a panel of three: a teacher, who judges them on their Italian language skills; a chef, who judges them on their knowledge of Italian cuisine; and finally the contractor, who oversees their skills during the rebuild.

They are awarded points based on their performance, which add up to 50% of their final score.

The other 50% is awarded by a secret panel of eight villagers, who decide which couple is most likely to fit in.

Who's showing it?

The series was broadcast in the Netherlands on public broadcaster Ned1 and gained a market average of 21%. This autumn, the show will premiere in Belgium on commercial broadcaster VTM.

Coming to the UK?

Eyeworks International, which has the international rights on the property, is in discussions with major UK broadcasters.

Could it work here?

This could provide some much-needed escapism amid the current housing market slump. The practicality of Changing Rooms mixed with  the aspirational A Place in the Sun could prove a winner.
