Colli del Tronto

From the high hill on which it is situated, Colli del Tronto watches, as a mother would do, over the nice hamlets in a territory full of cultivated lands. Different shades, profiles, and shapes alternate, which remind visitors of the chromatic taste of a great artists.

This beautiful small town is rich in quiet atmosphere, and is situated where Castrum Fanum was. The latter dates back to the age of the Romans and Piceni, indeed, the remains of a very ancient town were unearthed, in Colli del Tronto’s territory a lot of precious manufactured products and a necropolis were discovered.

Surrounded by vineyards, the central part of the village preserves the citizens’ dearest jewel, namely the church Santa Felicita. It was well restored by the Milan architect Pietro Maggi in 1796, starting from a former 16th-century Franciscan convent. The elegant inner part is enriched by a work by Ferdinando Cicconi, a painter who worked in Colli del Tronto in the second half of the 19th century, when musician Antonio Lozzi was starting his activity. This is probably due to chance, or to the tangible harmony filling this village.

Today, the village continues with its predominant agricultural activity, but also preserves and enhances ancient and precious artisan traditions. The inhabitants, thanks to their industriousness and the favourable geographical location of their village, have managed to start several successful entrepreneurial activities.

Situated close to the seaside and not far away from the highway exit, Colli del Tronto is also renowned for being in the area where the red wine Rosso Piceno is produced. The latter excellently characterizes and completes the exquisite local dishes, which are jealously passed over from generation to generation and always preserve the pleasant taste of savoury and genuine food.
