Marche Breaks

The town of Appignano del Tronto is positioned in a zone rich of vines and olive trees, in a fascinating landscape characterised by steep crags and creeks and traversed by the torrent Chifenti. In the Romanesque-Gothic Church of St Michele Archangel, erected in the first half of the 15th century, and several times restored, there are the reliquary of the cross, a prestigious work of jewellery, and a painting by Vincenzo Pagani portraying the “Assunta” (1559).

The Romanesque-Gothic Church of St Giovanni Battista is dominated by a slender 14th century bell-tower with cusp and features a quadrilateral facade with a Renaissance portal and a beautiful rosette with Gothic arches. Inside the three-nave structure, we can admire the Pentecost (1589), a painting on canvas by Simone De Magistris and a 14th century stone.

Frescoes of the 14th century adorn the interiors of the Church of the Assunta.
